First Glance: Out of the Riffle Woodworks

After a recent trip to central PA where I was left running downstream with a fish worth netting more than once, I decided it was finally time to get a nice net. Without hesitation I texted my buddy Chris Pongrac, the mastermind behind Out of the Riffle Woodworks. I told him I wanted somthing for trout, smallies and maybe the occasional carp. I also wanted some tiger maple with a dark contrasting wood, similar to the neck of a Les Paul. After he sent me a few pictures of wood samples, we settled on Tiger Maple and Figured Walnut.

One of my favorite parts of the whole process was Chris's updates via text (or email). Throughout the whole build he kept me up to date with the build status by sending pictures.  Here's as shot of all the pieces after getting steamed and shaped.

And just like that, only 12 days later I received my net in the mail! Absolutely gorgeous! Not only am I pleased with the product, but the turn around time and customer service couldn't have been better. For anyone who is thinking of getting a net, we seriously recommend Chris.

You can find his Etsy site here, follow him on Instagram, and follow him on Facebook too! He will also be at the Lancaster Fly Fishing Show (stay tuned for details) this Winter, so be sure to stop by his booth and tell him we sent you.

In the meantime, I will sit at home taking pictures of this thing until I get a chance to go fishing.
