Comfortably Numb

Needless to say, it's been one hell of a Winter here in PA. With all this Polar Vortex BS and these frigid conditions, cabin fever is at an all time high...for some. Yes, standing in a river when it is 10 degrees outside does not sound ideal, but there are still fish to be caught. We're here to tell you that you need to gear up and get out there! After all...the fish aren't going to catch themselves ;) Here are a few tips that will make your trip into the Arctic Tundra a little more bearable.

1. Don't put too many socks on. If your foot is crammed in your boot, there isn't any air down there to keep you warm. Get a nice pair of wool socks and rock em.
2. Bring Gloves. Even if you don't wear them while you fish, they're essential for lasting a full, or even half day.
3. Use your net. Personally, I land 95% of my fish without a net. Why? Who knows. But in the winter, staying dry is key. One dip in the water and your fingers will be shot.
4. Fish water you're confident in. Fishing can be slow in the winter, and fish tend to stack up in the big holes. Don't feel bad for skipping some of the skinny water to get to your favorite hole.
5. Take it slow. Falling in this time of year, especially if you're fishing alone, can be deadly! Stay safe guys, it's slick out there.
6. When taking pictures in the cold, make sure you only keep the fish out of the water for a few seconds. Any longer can permanently damage or kill the fish.

Just a little motivation...it was single digits when we woke up this morning to fish. Here are some shots of the nicer fish of the day.
