Help Extend Pine Creek's Delayed Harvest by 1.6 miles!

Hey guys. Slate Run Tackle Shop is trying to get support to extend the Delayed Harvest section by 1.6 miles. If you're looking for something to do in your free time today, send these guys an email supporting the 1.6 mile extension. The instructions are in the video below, but in a nutshell, if you send an email to wolfes@ptd.net or a letter to the Slate Run Tackle Shop  explaining how much you fish there, how you feel about the topic, and anything that they can present to the fish and game commission to get this accepted! Check out the video and text below from their site.

Catch and Release...
While we're doing it, let's do it right ! Not only the videos above but the pictures below show the uniqueness of "The Stretch." The pictures were taken at the end of last summer, after a  brutally hot July and August when one might think Pine's trout might not survive. They did survive, and, in large numbers. The first picture below has approximately 250 trout in Pine at the mouth of Little Slate Run, and the second picture is a closer shot of the beauty and vitality of the "survivors." Trout were also in the strong springs in the deeper water along the bike trail, at the mouth of Slate, in the springs along the base of the Old Campground's mountainside, and at the mouth of Naval Run. There were a lot of trout! The next morning the trout had dispersed - it had been a cold night and Pine's temperature had dropped enough so the trout were back in their normal haunts. The last three pictures show trout caught after they dispersed and before fall stocking - beautiful, healthy, and strong specimens.
Let's change our existing Delayed Harvest to Catch and Release and allow those great browns to continue to grow and provide a fishery that may be unparalleled in the East and  rival those in the West. With more trout surviving because of no-kill, the Brown Trout Club would be free to stock more of the big browns in the Delayed Harvest (new extension) as well as above Slate in open water. Everyone would benefit. And along the way, we would have done something special for a resource that has proven itself to be very special indeed. Please write and give your support.

Thanks for opening this letter. Once again, please email us a response, or send us a letter so we can get our beloved water protected and increase the fishery by extending the Delayed Harvest. Your response is of the utmost value! Be a part of making "The Stretch" a Catch and Release and the additional water Delayed Harvest. Not only will we enjoy it, but it will be a special gift for generations to come.

Thanks again for being with us!
